Bicomponent Fibers
A fiber composed by two polymers, being its core in polyester (PET) and the sheath in modified polyester (COPET) having a melting point under 230ºF.
It is used in manufacturing heat consolidated non-wovens, where bicomponent fibers are mixed with conventional polyester fibers and, after melting the bicomponent fibers, these work as a bonding element for all fibers.
One of its major applications is in manufacturing comforters and duvets.
